In 1972 we had to remorgage our home to finance a building on land we purchased under land contract.
To afford to build the building John Petitto and two of his students from the college assembled the steel
building in Jan 1973 in 5 degree weather. Upon opening in March we had no electricity for the first
three days and no toilets for the first year. |
John's wife, Cheryl opened the store in the mornings and ran it until John came in after school to do the
repair work. |

When we were awarded the Harley-Davidson franchise in 1975, we were required to order an initial parts package
of $4000. Cheryl looked at John and said, “Where in heaven’s name are we going to get the money?”.
Luckily, HD back-ordered most of the parts and this initial hump in the road was breached. |
The Family began a 30+ year relationship with Harley-Davidson through thick and thin. And most of all, it was the customers which
has made this a fun business.
